UET Lahore organized a seminar on “Power and Responsibilities of Social Media.” Chairman Pakistan Federal of Columnist Ejaz Mahwri participated as chief guest.

While addressing to the participants, he said, “Social media has emerged as a giant in a social world and the tendency towards social media has been increased. The information passed by social media can directly change the opinion of an individual. Social media is considered to be the world’s largest source of information, but most of the material provided on social media is not accurate and credible.”

He emphasized the effective use of social media saying that it cannot be denied that social media has broadened the mindset of people, but it has also deeply influenced the young generation around the world.

Ejaz Mahararvi further said, “social media has become a platform for false news items and wrong information. youngsters spread the information without knowing its credibility. They should confirm the true side of any news story or information.”

He said that young people are the real souls of any nation. They should avoid being part of sectarianism, hatred and false activities.

Vice Chancellor UET Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmed Khalid, Public Relations Officer Ali Ashraf, teachers and a large number of media students were present on the occasion. At the end of the seminar Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmed Khalid distributed certificates among students and presented souvenir to the honorable guest Ejaz Mahaweli
